Joywheel was awarded two out of three work packages as part of a tender for providing access points at 35 locations between London and Stafford, with a value of over £1m.
The type of work carried out on this contract includes access road construction, excavation of Road Railer Access Point (RRAP) base locations and concrete RRAP construction, creation of access steps, Armco barrier erection, fencing and gates installation, cable protection, amongst other minor works. A particular challenge was presented by the extensive cable network at some locations.
Joywheel directly employs all staff required to carry out this type of project on Network Rail controlled infrastructure.
